Jens Christensen Bruun
Founder of Scan Design
1933 - 2002

The creative and inspirational founder of Scan Design Furniture immigrated from Denmark to the United States in 1961 with his wife Inger. He opened his first Danish Furniture store in Bellevue in 1964. Over the years he steadily added stores in Washington and Oregon. His eye for craftsmanship and design earned Scan Design a reputation among its customers for providing fine quality Scandinavian furniture.

Jens love for Denmark led him to become a board member and financial contributor to the Rebild Society, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to foster Danish-American relations. He also sponsored over a hundred Danish youths who came to the US to learn about American business and way of life.

During the last few years of his life he slowly began to hand over the leadership of Scan Design to his much trusted management team in the US . His wish was for Scan Design to continue after his passing. The "Scan | Design by Inger and Jens Bruun Foundation" has been created according to his wishes. Inger and Jen's generous spirits live on in the efforts of this Foundation, and continue the legacy of caring and giving that were so much a part of their lives.
